Spice-infused Poached Pears
I have loved teaching my delicate, festive, spice-infused poached pear recipe over virtual cookery workshops and participants have delighted in preparing and enjoying the dish.
Servings 4 people
- Handful halved pecans
- 2 Pears
- 1/3 cup apple juice
- Spices: pinch cinnamon/ few cloves/ star anise/ cardamom
- Zest of an orange
- Rinse the nuts, place on a baking tray and toast in a heated oven at 180°C for about 8 minutes.
- Cut the pears in half and remove the core using a teaspoon. Place the pear halves in a saucepan with the apple juice. Sprinkle in the orange zest and the spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes with a lid on. Test that the pears are soft using a fork.
Serve topped with the toasted pecans.
