Shiatsu literally means ‘finger pressure’ as the main technique used is giving gentle but firm pressure with the fingers and palms of the hands over the body, to stimulate the flow of life energy or ‘Ki’ through the body. This has a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating affect, and is great at taking away tension and stress. Simple stretches are also used to stimulate the flow of Ki.
