Bill Tara is a pioneer in the modern Macrobiotic movement in both America and Europe. For over 50 years he has been an advocate of the Macrobiotic approach to nutrition, nutritional reform and natural approaches to health and healing.  In the 1960’s he opened macrobiotic education centres in Chicago and Los Angeles and was active in the emerging natural foods revolution. In the 1970’ he established the first macrobiotic educational programs in the UK, founding the Community Health Foundation and was co-founder with Michio and Aveline Kushi in the formation of the first Kushi Institute programs.

Bill has vast experience both as a health counsellor in private practice as well as clinical experience in both America and Europe. He was the first person to be awarded the title, Macrobiotic Senior Teacher by Michio Kushi and was chairman of the Kushi Institute Teachers Review Boards in both the America and Europe for four years. His book, Macrobiotics and Human Behaviour, was the first book by a Westerner to examine the Five Transformation theory applied to the body/mind connection.

He has been invited to 22 countries to present seminars on Macrobiotic Health Care, Human Ecology, Oriental Diagnosis and Vegan Advocacy. He has taught his course, Body Psychology, at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado and teaches yearly at the Academy of Healing Nutrition in New York. He is widely sought as a keynote speaker and known for his insight and humour.

He works together with his wife, Marlene Watson-Tara offering a wide range of educational programs and bespoke health services in the private and corporate world. Their MACROVegan programs include the original Macrobiotic Health Coach Program, now in its tenth year with students attending from 27 countries as well as workshops on Oriental Diagnosis and the residential, Ultimate Health Experience.
